Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
