It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was out her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
