Texas Attorney General Paxton is suing the producers of Tylenol, asserting the firms withheld potential risks that the medication posed to pediatric cognitive development.

The court filing comes a month after Former President Trump publicized an unsubstantiated connection between taking acetaminophen - also known as acetaminophen - throughout gestation and autism in offspring.

Paxton is suing J&J, which once produced the drug, the sole analgesic suggested for expectant mothers, and the current manufacturer, which presently makes it.

In a declaration, he stated they "deceived the public by profiting off of suffering and marketing drugs without regard for the dangers."

The company asserts there is insufficient reliable data tying Tylenol to autism spectrum disorder.

"These corporations misled for generations, intentionally threatening numerous people to line their pockets," Paxton, from the Republican party, stated.

Kenvue said in a statement that it was "seriously troubled by the spread of false claims on the reliability of paracetamol and the likely effects that could have on the welfare of women and children in America."

On its official site, the company also stated it had "continuously evaluated the relevant science and there is no credible data that demonstrates a verified association between consuming paracetamol and autism."

Associations representing medical professionals and medical practitioners agree.

ACOG has declared paracetamol - the main ingredient in Tylenol - is among limited choices for expectant mothers to treat pain and elevated temperature, which can pose major wellness concerns if not addressed.

"In over twenty years of investigation on the consumption of paracetamol in pregnancy, not a single reputable study has conclusively proven that the use of acetaminophen in any period of gestation results in neurological conditions in offspring," the organization stated.

The lawsuit cites current declarations from the previous government in arguing the medication is allegedly unsafe.

Recently, the former president caused concern from medical authorities when he advised women during pregnancy to "struggle intensely" not to take Tylenol when sick.

The US Food and Drug Administration then issued a notice that doctors should consider limiting the usage of Tylenol, while also mentioning that "a proven link" between the drug and autism spectrum disorder in young ones has remains unverified.

The Health Department head Robert F Kennedy Jr, who manages the FDA, had promised in spring to initiate "extensive scientific investigation" that would identify the origin of autism in a short period.

But specialists advised that identifying a sole reason of autism spectrum disorder - believed by scientists to be the outcome of a complicated interplay of genetic and external influences - would prove challenging.

Autism is a category of permanent neurological difference and impairment that affects how people perceive and engage with the world, and is diagnosed using doctors' observations.

In his legal document, Paxton - a Trump ally who is campaigning for US Senate - alleges the manufacturer and Johnson & Johnson "willfully ignored and sought to suppress the evidence" around paracetamol and autism.

The lawsuit attempts to require the firms "eliminate any promotional materials" that claims acetaminophen is safe for expectant mothers.

The court case mirrors the concerns of a collection of parents of minors with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who sued the producers of Tylenol in two years ago.

The court threw out the case, declaring research from the family's specialists was inconclusive.
